Tumua, wanted to create a range of jewellery that was uniquely focused on his heritage and culture. With this incorporating the names of his late Aunt Sulu, Dad Tumua and Mum Talisala, was something he chose with help from his dear Aunty Po.
The three manu (sea birds) represent these three important family members, they are also a symbol of voyagers as they crossed the whole ocean during their migrations, tracing the route to be eventually followed by Polynesian navigators. Tumua’s family members made a great navigation themselves from Samoa to New Zealand where they settled and had their family. Each bird is a different size and a symbol of uniqueness, hope and pride, something Tumua truly believes in and hopes for each of his pieces of jewellery within the range.
